About Me

My name is Jessi Sletten, CLC, PMH-C – creator of Empowering Postpartum.

As a Postpartum Empowerment Coach I help pregnant and newly postpartum parents create ease and joy in their birth and postpartum experience.

I live in Colorado with my amazing husband, 2 beautiful boys, and our loving pup Luna – where we enjoy everything outdoors that the rocky mountains have to offer.

My Qualifications:

I earned my Bachelor of Science Degrees in Human Development & Family Studies and Psychology in 2011.

I earned my Lactation Counselor Certification (CLC) in 2019 and recertified again in 2022 (completing twice the amount of continuing education credits required).

In 2021 I completed my certification as a Postpartum Nutrition Professional through Postpartum University.

I also became certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International in 2021.

I have taken many additional courses spanning across all of these areas of perinatal expertise to further serve and support my clients. This includes inclusivity courses for supporting LGBQT+, BIPOC, and Neurodivergent families. I have also completed 2 courses on trauma informed care.

My Passion

My passion for this work stems from my own experience entering into motherhood. I experienced a very difficult postpartum with my first son. I battled postpartum anxiety & depression, struggled with breastfeeding and understanding how to care for my own body and mind after birth.

After navigating the long and difficult road back to wellness and preparing for my second pregnancy in a completely different way, I knew I was called to help guide others on their own path to parenthood.

Empowering Postpartum is inclusive and anti-racist. I value privacy and informed consent. I believe that the well being of the parent is just as important as the wellbeing of the baby. I believe that babies are people. I affirm that pumping IS breastfeeding. I support the feeding choice that works for you and your baby. I actively pursue continuing education in clinical skills, ethics, trauma informed care, cultural humility, and equity.

My Goals

I am on a mission to ensure all birthgivers are seen, heard, and in control of their own birthing and postpartum experiences.

I fully believe that you can do more than just survive your postpartum. With my support you can THRIVE!
